FLOOD POLICIES                                         BYRON ILLINOIS RIVER GAGE

The campground is in the Rock River floodway.  The campground will close all islands when the Byron River gage gets to 11 feet or the action stage.  No vehicles will be allowed on the islands.  Campers may still travel to the islands by boat, and seasonal campers may travel to their sites by boat after an action stage warning.  However, all campers assume the risk of camping once the river is at the action stage.  After 10 consecutive days of the river above the action stage, campers will be given a per diem credit for next years camping fees for the 11th day through the date of the river going below the action stage.  All RVs must have at least a 20 foot chain attached to their camper and a tree at all times during the season.  In the event of a flood where the camper has failed to secure their camper, they will be responsible for all costs for removal of campers from the river after a flood event.

GATE POLICIES

The main gate on Route 2 at the North end of the campground will be closed during the week Monday through Friday until 4 pm on Fridays between April 1, 2009 and June 10, 2009 unless a person makes a reservation or arrangements for the gate to be open.   The gate will remain open from Friday at noon until Sunday at 5 pm unless campers have made reservations. Between June 10 and labor day the gate will be open 7 days a week.  The gate at the north house will close at 11 pm.  Nobody will be allowed back into the campground after 11 pm without prior reservations and payment of an after hours fee.  The owners reserve the right to refuse entry to any person at any time.   This is a destination campground.  Frequent exit and entry by seasonal campers or weekend campers may result in the gate being closed for that camper, or requiring that the camper to park their vehicle outside the campground so as not to disturb the other campers with frequent car traffic.  Seasonal campers will be given the main gate pass code at the start of each season to allow access during off hours.  Anybody attempting to pass a closed gate after hours will be prosecuted for trespassing.  Please respect other campers and come prepared so that your car will be parked and not driven back and forth during your visit.  This is a unique natural area and car traffic for essentials is fine, but will be curtailed if frequent trips are made which disturbs the owners or other campers.

RESTRICTIONS

No firearms, explosives, fireworks, chemical containers, weapons, atvs, go carts, off road motorcycles, or mini bikes will be allowed in the campground.   After 11 pm the campground should be quiet and other campers should be respected.  No notice will be given if a camper is being loud after hours, and that camper may be asked to leave.  In the event a camper complains of noise and it is found that the noise levels are not that high or intrusive, the complainer may be asked to leave, and in both cases no refunds will be given to the campers.  Weekend campers may not walk through seasonal campsites or set up for fishing in seasonal campsites.  A seasonal campsite will have an orange tag on the campsite to give notice to all parties to not trespass on that site.  No tree may be trimmed, cut, or removed for any reason without the express permission of the owners.  Campers may bring firewood into the campground and remove wood from any downed tree in the river, but may not remove wood from any downed tree in the campground.  Firewood can be purchased at the check in area for $4 a bundle.  If anyone removes firewood which has been stockpiled in various spots on the islands without paying, the camper will be asked to leave, make full payment for the wood as determined in the sole discretion of the owners, or be prosecuted for thief.  Picnic tables should not be moved without the permission of the owners or their agents.   All boats brought into the campground may be docked for period of the campers stay, and locations should be secured when checking in, or immediately thereafter.   All fishing lines should be taken out of the water when boat traffic is coming through the channels.  Boats have first priority on channels.
